Why not organic?
As Japan, is known for producing the best matcha in the world, we spent months sourcing and tasting different varieties of matcha from Japan. Due to matcha’s shade growing process, the plants rely on fertilisers instead of the sun to get its nutrients. As such, we weren’t able to source an organic matcha that met our high standards without the hefty price tag. After all, we want to make healthy eating affordable for everyone.
Since Japan has one of the most strictly enforced agriculture regulations in the world, this means conventional matcha from Japan is perfectly safe to consume. Our premium culinary grade matcha powder is sourced from the Uji Prefecture in Kyoto. The Uji Prefecture is renowned for its pristine tea fields and perfect growing conditions for matcha cultivation. We work with a number of local farmers so that we can always source the best green tea leaves to create our premium grade matcha.
